NEWS/ Law and Order: SVU Taps The Good Wife Veteran As New Detective

Harry Hamlin is making problems for Rollins on SVU. Can't poor Kelli Giddish catch a break?
We've got a sneak peek at "Pattern Seventeen," the Wednesday, Dec. 10 episode of Law & Order: SVU and the Mad Men star sure has upped the creep factor for his SVU appearance.  In the episode, a serial rapist strikes several young girls, Rollins matches the pattern to rapes she worked back home in Atlanta. But as we see in the clip below, the rape kits were never tested because Atlanta's SVU Chief Patton deemed none of the cases were worth pursuing. And of course, there's something more lurking below the surface.
Also in the episode: Benson (Mariska Hargitay) clashes with her boss Chief Dodds (Peter Gallagher) and deals with a family issue that may see baby Noah snatched from her care.
This isn't the last time we'll see Hamlin. E! News has learned he'll return in the Wednesday, Jan. 7 episode titled "Forgiving Rollins." We'll also meet Dreama Walker as Detective Reese Taymor who accompanies Patton to a law enforcement conference in New York. In that episode, a crime leads Rollins to dig up secrets of her past. Seriously, can this lady catch a break?! She's been held at gunpoint, clashed with her lover/fellow cop Amaro (Danny Pino) and of course there's that whole gambling ring from last year. Rollins needs a vacation.
Walker has appeared on Law & Order and Law & Order: Criminal Intent, but this is her first time on SVU. Her other TV credits include Gossip GirlThe Good Wife and Don't Trust the B— in Apt. 23.
Hamlin's been busy. In addition to Mad Men, the L.A. Law veteran has popped up onShameless and Rush and has appeared opposite his wife Lisa Rinna on Bravo's Real Housewives of Beverly Hills.
(E! and NBC are both part of the NBCUniversal family.)
